The Swinton Park Green Wedding

(for 30 guests)

Celebrate your wedding celebrations here at Swinton Park, with the beauty of the surrounding 200 acres of parkland and gardens and the Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep. The Green Wedding package includes accommodation for 30 guests, with care taken at every level to care for environment and minimise food miles and carbon emissions too. Swinton Park is a highly regarded champion of eco-tourism with a Gold Award from the Green Business in Tourism scheme and a 3 Star award from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (with the highest rating in the country).

The hotel’s heating and hot water is powered by a carbon neutral wood-chip boiler, using forestry thinnings from the Swinton Estate, the in-house laundry uses an eco O-Zone system reducing chemicals, water and energy by 30% and the hotel waste is “Landfill-Free” with it all being recycled or incinerated in a “waste to energy” scheme. In terms of food miles, most of the ingredients used for the wedding breakfast have been sourced from the doorstep, with a four acre walled garden producing a constant supply of seasonal fruit, herbs and vegetables, and the surrounding 20,000 acre Swinton Estate a source of game, meat and foraged wild edible ingredients.

Thank goodness the sun has now come out and we seem to have finally put winter behind us! The Parkland has burst into bloom with clouds of blossom and a colourful carpet of daffodils and bluebells around the trees.

The Walled Garden is also getting going, with bright tulips swaying in the breeze and home grown asparagus bursting forth. Asparagus is at its most delicious when eaten closest to home, so dishes featuring home-grown asparagus are now on all our menus, including the bar and lounge. The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
