New Alfresco Dining Experience At Swinton Park

Swinton Park has announced three Alfresco Dining dates for Summer 2010. These events will be held in the recently restored Deerhouse, set in the 200 acres of landscaped parkland that surround the award winning luxury castle hotel.

The deerhouse overlooks the castle, Home Lake and surrounding Yorkshire Dales countryside, and provides a spectacular vantage point in which to enjoy the very best of a traditional English summerís evening, under the watchful eye of the hotelís herd of fallow deer.

The event is a candlelit event, with braziers and rugs provided to keep guests warm. The hotel chefs cook and serve prime cuts of locally sourced meat, using barbecue and clay oven, with walled garden salads and breads, followed by a traditional English puddings such as Eton Mess and profiteroles followed by coffee under the stars.

The dates for the events are 11th June, 23rd July and 20th August. Bookings must be made in advance for tables of four or more. £25 per person.

Notes for the Editor :

  1. Swinton Park is a 30 bedroom luxury hotel with 4 Red Stars and 3 Rosettes for quality of food. It is owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family, who opened it as a hotel in 2001.
  2. The Deerhouse was recently restored and is also used as the headquarters for events at the hotelís Alfresco Food Festivals Ė being held in 2010 on 31st May and 12th September
  3. The hotel has a cookery school, with day, evening and residential courses running all year. The residential courses are run by the TV Celebrity chef, Rosemary Shrager.
  4. The gardens, including the four acre walled garden, have been extensively restored in recent years. The walled garden now grows over 60 varieties of seasonal herbs, fruit and produce. The hotel is committed to keeping food miles to an absolute minimum, with the majority of all other produce sourced by the hotel coming from the surrounding 20,000 acre estate and Yorkshire countryside.
  5. The hotel has a carbon neutral woodchip boiler, eco-laundry and many other environmental measures in place Ė winning awards for its green policies.
