Something Completely Different at Swinton Park

Date: 29th September, 2008

We are all looking for something new, different and unusual when booking a team building or incentive event. Here at Swinton Park, we have put together a few ideas for an event organiser, in terms of what can be done that would really help bring an event to life and make it memorable for all.

Alfresco Dining - Take to the great outdoors in truly unforgettable style either in the Deer House within the parkland (walking distance), or in the moorland Bothy Hut on the estate (approx 20 minute drive). A sumptuous spread will await you, including champagne, pates, terrines, cheeses and hot soup, set out with candlesticks on linen tablecloths in the very best of tradition. In both venues the views are breathtaking, and the experience second to none. £90 per person (including transport to Bothy Hut),based on a group of 8 guests.

Bicycle Polo – following the coverage in the national press and local television, and the amount of interest that this generated, we have decided to offer this to guests. We provide a referee and commentator, marquee for tea, and bicycles, sticks and balls. The game is played on the polo pitch beside Home Lake a short walk from the hotel. Four players per team required. No previous experience required (so long as you can ride a bike) – it’s designed to bring out the competitive streak in us all! £50 per player, based on 8 playing. Includes four chukkas, with an interval for tea.

Wine Tasting – this package is aimed at the executive level guests who enjoy top level corporate entertaining and really need to know their wines. A general introduction is given to the world of fine wine (with a particular focus on any region or grape if requested) followed by tastings. Much of the tastings will be blind in order to focus the taste buds, and there will also be tastings of food with wines in order to demystify the rigours of choosing wine to complement a meal. £50 per guest.

Shooting – for the first time ever, shooting at Swinton Estate (one of the best shooting estates in the country) is now available on a commercial basis. Two new packages are available offering shorter lead times and greater flexibility : Walking Days and evening Duck Flighting, both for teams of 4 guns. Walking Days cost £492.50 + VAT per gun, including overnight single occupancy accommodation, dinner with wine and lunch. Duck Flighting costs £125 +VAT per gun, and includes afternoon tea before and dinner in the hotel afterwards.

Communication Skills with a Horse Whisperer – we have built up a good working relationship with Sarah Kreutzer who runs the Learning to Listen centre here on the estate. She has devised a programme for corporate groups that focuses on team dynamics and communication skills using her horses to interpret body language and the other complex levels of communication that we employ – a truly intriguing and altogether “different” experience that corporate groups are often looking for. Day course costs £175 per guest, based on a group of 8, includes lunch and refreshments.
