A Blind Date at Yorkshire castle hotel
Date: 10th February 2002

Viewers of LWT’s Blind Date at the weekend followed the exploits of one plucky couple, at Swinton Park, Yorkshire’s 4 star luxury castle hotel. Damian, a London DJ, had chosen Stephanie, a student and part time dancer at The Boat in Gateshead, the previous week to join him for the adventure.

They enjoyed two nights of lavish extravagance, lived life fit for a Lord and Lady, flew to York races by private helicopter and had a lot of fun.

Filming of the trip took place in October last year, but hotel staff were sworn to secrecy until the show was aired. Said owner, Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, “We all enjoyed having Damian and Stephanie to stay, and although it may not have been a match made in heaven, there’s no doubt they had a good time!”

Owned by the Cunliffe-Lister family, Swinton Park is an ancestral home dating from the 1600’s. It is surrounded by 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens, just a mile outside the charming market town of Masham. Each of the 20 bedrooms has been lavishly furnished on the theme of a Yorkshire town, dale, castle, abbey or garden, the most romantic being The Turret bedroom which is set on two circular floors in the castle’s turret.
