Samuel’s restaurant at Swinton Park triumphs with the Taste of England Award
Samuel’s restaurant at Swinton Park has been awarded Gold in the Taste of England Award category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2013 Ceremony.
The Gold Award is the highest Award for Excellence in Tourism in England which VisitEngland can bestow. Swinton Park was presented with its Gold Award at a glittering Awards Ceremony which was held on 20 May 2013 at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, Manchester.
Commenting on the Award James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “The quality of the 320 applications we received was very high making the competition for a Gold Award extremely tough. It is therefore a tremendous achievement for Samuel’s to win a Gold Award, the highest accolade for Excellence in Tourism which VisitEngland can bestow. They raised the bar for excellence which others can aspire to. I warmly congratulate them”.
Samuel’s, overseen by chef Simon Crannage, has won many awards for its high quality cuisine, including being cited as a “Top Scorer” by Hardens Restaurant Guides, and winning recognition as a 3 AA rosette restaurant. Using recipe books that have been in the Cunliffe-Lister family for generations, Simon interprets traditional cooking techniques with contemporary style. The emphasis is on seasonal and local produce inspired by the fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the hotel’s four-acre walled garden and around the Estate. Venison, rabbit, smoked trout and game are just some of the local ingredients sourced from it.
Speaking on behalf of Swinton Park, Felicity Cunliffe-Lister said “It’s great to be recognised for the high quality of cuisine and service at Samuel’s. Simon Crannage and his team of chefs work extremely hard behind the scenes and are very dedicated professionals, this accolade is a brilliant achievement for them”.
