Swinton Park has won a Highly Commended Award in the Small Hotel (30 rooms and under) category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2012 Ceremony.
A Highly Commended Award is a considerable achievement and recognises Excellence in Tourism in England. Swinton Park was presented with their Highly Commended Award at a glittering Awards Ceremony which was held on 22 May 2012 at Athena, an art deco gem located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter.
Commenting on the Award James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive said “It is a great achievement to win a Highly Commended Award in a year of record, high quality applications. The award places Swinton Park in the top two businesses for excellence in their category in England. I hope this success will encourage them to go for Gold in 2013″.
The Small Hotel category was sponsored by Freetobook, and Iain Stewart, Director, commented “Freetobook are proud to sponsor the Small Hotel of the Year Award and would like to offer well deserved congratulations to Swinton Park on winning their Award.“
Swinton Park received their award from Penelope Viscountess Cobham, Chairman of VisitEngland. Speaking on behalf of Swinton Park, Felicity Cunliffe-Lister (proprietor) said “We are so thrilled to have reached the final of such a prestigious national award. The team at Swinton Park take great pride in our standards of excellence at Swinton Park and all credit is due to them.”

Thank goodness the sun has now come out and we seem to have finally put winter behind us! The Parkland has burst into bloom with clouds of blossom and a colourful carpet of daffodils and bluebells around the trees.
The Walled Garden is also getting going, with bright tulips swaying in the breeze and home grown asparagus bursting forth. Asparagus is at its most delicious when eaten closest to home, so dishes featuring home-grown asparagus are now on all our menus, including the bar and lounge. The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
