Swinton Park is celebrating this week, following its success on Monday night at Welcome To Yorkshire’s glittering White Rose Awards ceremony, held at Leeds United’s Centenary Pavilion in Leeds. Out of a shortlist of seven finalists, Samuel’s at Swinton Park was awarded “Yorkshire Restaurant of the Year 2012”. The restaurant was commended for its commitment to the environment, the quality of its fine dining cuisine and service, and its creative use of wild and cultivated ingredients sourced from the hotel’s four acre walled garden and surrounding countryside.
“We are thrilled that Samuel’s has won this award. To be recognised as the best in Yorkshire is a tremendous accolade and I know our Head Chef, Simon Crannage, is immensely proud.” commented proprietor Felicity Cunliffe-Lister.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “Just making it on to the shortlist was a huge achievement and for them to go on and win an award is a memorable achievement. This award is testament to their hard work and going that extra mile to help raise the bar nationally.”

Thank goodness the sun has now come out and we seem to have finally put winter behind us! The Parkland has burst into bloom with clouds of blossom and a colourful carpet of daffodils and bluebells around the trees.
The Walled Garden is also getting going, with bright tulips swaying in the breeze and home grown asparagus bursting forth. Asparagus is at its most delicious when eaten closest to home, so dishes featuring home-grown asparagus are now on all our menus, including the bar and lounge. The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
