Swinton Park is celebrating its success at the recent Yorkshire Life Food & Drink Awards 2011 with a “brace” of accolades. The luxury castle hotel won Hotel of the Year and their Executive Chef, Simon Crannage, also won Chef of the Year.

The hotel was commended for its quality of service, superb setting and outstanding reviews, and Simon Crannage was singled out for the quality of his food and for being one of the most highly regarded chefs in Yorkshire.

Swinton Park opened as a hotel in 2001 and has been celebrating its 10th birthday this year. With 30 bedrooms, a cookery school (with resident celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager), spa with treatment rooms and Bird of Prey Centre, the hotel is now one of the leading hotels in the region.

“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the hotel’s 10th birthday than winning these two awards” commented proprietor Felicity Cunliffe-Lister “We are very honoured to have been recognised as the best hotel  in Yorkshire and I know that for Simon to win the Chef of the Year is something he is very proud of. Our General Manager, Peter Llewellyn, and his team at the hotel have worked exceptionally hard to achieve these standards, and they deserve every credit for them.”

The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
