Felicity and Mark Cunliffe-Lister, owners of the luxury castle hotel Swinton Park and the 20,000 acre Swinton Estate, today announce the appointment of Tom Lewis as the hotel’s General Manager.

Tom Lewis has held senior management roles within the hotel industry for more than 20 years, including five years as General Manager at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxfordshire, one of the highest rated hotels in the UK. During his career, he has also been manager at Gilpin Lodge, Windermere, Cumbria, Great Fosters, Egham, Surrey and The Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. More recently he has held a management position at The John Lewis Partnership.

Lewis said “I am delighted to be joining the Cunliffe-Listers at Swinton Park. I am greatly looking forward to working with them and such a wonderful, professional team. Swinton Park provides the most amazing backdrop and opportunities for the exciting future plans for the hotel and estate and I am excited to be part of an ever growing quest for sustainability and diversity within its operations.”

Swinton Park is a 31 bedroom hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, with cookery school (where celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager runs courses), spa and extensive country pursuits which include shooting, fishing, riding and walking. The Cunliffe-Lister family also launched Bivouac, a “glamping” luxury camping destination on the Swinton Estate in April this year.

Peter Llewellyn leaves Swinton Park for Close House, Newcastle after two years in the role of General Manager.

The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
