Something Completely Different
We are all looking for something new, different and unusual when booking a team building or incentive event. Here at Swinton Park, we have put together a few ideas for you in terms of what you could do during your stay with us, that would really help bring an event to life and make it memorable for all.
Alfresco Dining

Take to the great outdoors in truly unforgettable style either in the Deer House within the parkland (walking distance), or in the moorland Bothy Hut on the estate (approx 20 minute drive). A sumptuous spread will await you, including champagne, pates, terrines, cheeses and hot soup, set out with candlesticks on linen tablecloths in the very best of tradition. In both venues the views are breathtaking, and the experience second to none. £90 per person (including transport to Bothy Hut),based on a group of 8 guests.

Bicycle Polo
Following the coverage in the national press and local television, and the amount of interest that this generated, we have decided to offer this to guests. We provide a referee and commentator, marquee for tea, and bicycles, sticks and balls. The game is played on the polo pitch beside Home Lake a short walk from the hotel. Four players per team required. No previous experience required (so long as you can ride a bike) – it’s designed to bring out the competitive streak in us all! £50 per player, based on 8 playing. Includes four chukkas, with an interval for tea.
Wine Tasting
This package is aimed at the executive level guests who enjoy top level corporate entertaining and really need to know their wines. A general introduction is given to the world of fine wine (with a particular focus on any region or grape if requested) followed by tastings. Much of the tastings will be blind in order to focus the taste buds, and there will also be tastings of food with wines in order to demystify the rigours of choosing wine to complement a meal.
£250 for 8 guests, £25 per additional guest.
Farm Adventure
On a beautiful 178 acre sheep farm, just two miles from Swinton Park, your team can take part in team-building activities that include pig herding, tractor minefields and farm Olympics! This is the place to let your hair down and get back to basics in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Half Day package £40/delegate
Full Day package £90/delegate (including lunch)
Shooting
For the first time ever, shooting at Swinton Estate (one of the best shooting estates in the country) is now available on a commercial basis. Two new packages are available offering shorter lead times and greater flexibility : Walking Days and evening Duck Flighting, both for teams of 4 guns.
Walking Days cost £492.50 + VAT per gun, including overnight single occupancy accommodation, dinner with wine and lunch. Duck Flighting costs £125 +VAT per gun, and includes afternoon tea before and dinner in the hotel afterwards.
Back to Nature
Join Chris Bax, the award winning wild food and wilderness cooking expert (as seen on BBC’s Countryfile), for a half day experience. The group will be taken into the countryside surrounding the hotel to learn about where to look, what to eat and how to harvest nature’s own edible shoots, berries, roots and leaves. Skills are then taught in preparing wild food such as rabbit, trout or game at the Deer House in the parkland, which is then cooked with the wild produce harvested by the group over a wood fire, which the group will have learnt how to light themselves using bushcraft techniques. The course can be as hands on and as hearty as the group requires, and the food cooked can amount to a full meal or just tasting dishes. This is a unique bonding experience, using the natural environment to break down barriers and nurture team spirit. Approx 3 -4 hours.
Groups up to 12 : £60 per delegate (minimum £300). Groups of 13 to 25 : £50 per delegate. Full day courses also available, please ask for further details.

Hunter Gatherer Experience
Spend a day in the parkland learning how to hunt with Birds of Prey and ferrets, forage for edible wild ingredients, and to build a fire and enjoy a delicious meal (using ingredients sourced from the day’s hunting and foraging) which is served in the deerhouse. The day is spent with our falconer Sophie Abbott and wild food expert Chris Bax, and promises to appeal to anyone with an interest in countryside skills and who enjoys getting back to nature!
£95 per person (based on a group of 6)

Thank goodness the sun has now come out and we seem to have finally put winter behind us! The Parkland has burst into bloom with clouds of blossom and a colourful carpet of daffodils and bluebells around the trees.
The Walled Garden is also getting going, with bright tulips swaying in the breeze and home grown asparagus bursting forth. Asparagus is at its most delicious when eaten closest to home, so dishes featuring home-grown asparagus are now on all our menus, including the bar and lounge. The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
