Cookery School
Cooking as a team building event is fast becoming a very popular activity, requiring full participation from all in an environment which promotes interaction and breaks down barriers. For those looking for something new, it also offers something a bit “different” from the more obvious choice of activity, and is a rare opportunity to learn skills which appeal across the board.

The format of a cooking event can be designed around your requirements, be it a team building or an incentive style of event. The kitchen can also be used for a dedicated food or wine tasting, or purely for a cookery demonstration.
The converted Georgian stables are home to the cookery school, which overlooks the castle and is a stand alone facility. It has its own dining room (where you can enjoy the fruits of your labour!) and the demonstration kitchen has been designed to the highest specification, providing a relaxed environment well disposed to the appreciation of good food and fine wine!
Cooking Course
A morning/lunch or afternoon/dinner package with hands on involvement for all guests. Cook as a group for approximately 2 1/2 hours, preparing an entire meal which is then served in the cookery school dining room. The entire session lasts between 3 1/2 to 4 hours, depending on the length of time taken over the meal. Separate charges apply for refreshments during course and drinks served with meal. Maximum group size of 14. Recipe cards included. £1,200 for up to 8 guests with a charge of £150 for every additional guest.
Overnight Package
Join us for an overnight stay, including dinner in the hotel, with a day course the following morning ending in lunch in the cookery school. £330 per person (based on 8 guests or more).
Ready Steady Cook
Is your team up to the challenge?? Following the well known format, teams are given a tray of “surprise” ingredients to cook a meal. Our Cookery School Chef supervises proceedings and judges the end result, with prizes for the winners. £60 per guest, minumum 8 and maximum 20. The event usually lasts at least an hour, but can be tailored to suit requirements.
One hour hands on demonstration
The demonstration lasts one hour, with members of the group invited to join in and perform certain tasks and challenges. Refreshments during course charged separately. Maximum group size of 14 sitting with extra space for standing (although this is a one hour session and so standing for this period of time may not be suitable for all guests). Recipe cards included. £720 for up to 12 guests, with a charge of £60 for every additional guest.
Dinner Demonstrations
We have two dining experiences available for private groups. One is the Chef’s Table, which is a demonstration only experience and with more details given at our Something Completely Different Page. The other is our Sushi Dinner Experience with Simon Phillips which combines both hands on cooking and demonstration, along with an introduction to sushi and its origins and sake tasting. The Sushi Dining experience costs £360 for 8 guests, with a maximum number of 10 guests attending (£45 for each additional guest). Drinks are not included in this package price and are an additional charge.
Demonstration
A half hour demonstration for up to 14 guests sitting and 16 standing. No hands on experience, recipe cards included. Refreshments during course charged for separately. £400 for up to 10 guests, with a charge of £40 for every additional guest.
Day Hire of Cookery School (excluding staff)
Full use of facilities including demonstration and prep kitchens, cooking equipment, dining room and toilets. £1,000

The Walled Garden is also getting going, with bright tulips swaying in the breeze and home grown asparagus bursting forth. Asparagus is at its most delicious when eaten closest to home, so dishes featuring home-grown asparagus are now on all our menus, including the bar and lounge. The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
