Cookery School

Cooking as a team building event is a very popular activity, requiring full participation from all in an environment which promotes interaction and breaks down barriers. It offers something a bit “different” from the more obvious choice of activity, and is a rare opportunity to learn skills which appeal across the board.

The format of a cooking event can be designed around your requirements, be it a team building or an incentive style of event. The kitchen can also be used for a dedicated food or wine tasting, or purely for a cookery demonstration.

The converted Georgian stables are home to the cookery school, which overlooks the castle and is a stand alone facility. It has its own dining room (where you can enjoy the fruits of your labour!) and the demonstration kitchen has been recently refurbished to the highest specification, providing a relaxed environment well disposed to the appreciation of good food and fine wine!

Bake Off

Now’s your chance to put your baking skills to the test in Swinton Park’s version of this popular TV programme. Cookery School Chef Director Stephen Bulmer will set you a ‘Technical Challenge‘ where he will demonstrate a baking recipe, which you then emulate either in teams or individually. Following this, you can get your creative juices flowing on a ‘Signature Showstopper‘, where you embellish a simple recipe with your selection of additional ingredients and decorations provided, to make it your own. Steve will judge the results and award prizes to the winners.

From £75 per guest for a two hour event, but can be tailored to suit your requirements. Minimum of 8 maximum of 12 contestants.

Ready Steady Cook

Is your team up to the challenge? Following the well known format, teams are given a tray of “surprise” ingredients to cook a meal. Chef Director Stephen Bulmer supervises proceedings and judges the end result, with prizes for the winners. From £60 per guest, minimum 8 and maximum 20. The event usually lasts at least an hour, but can be tailored to suit your requirements.

Taste Challenge

Try some unusual flavour combinations created by our chef and see if you can identify the chemistry that creates a great taste. Then work together as teams to create a sublime taste from the ingredients you are given. £30 per person for 45 minutes, minimum of 8 guests.

Half Hour Demonstration

A half hour demonstration for up to 14 guests sitting and 16 standing. No hands on experience, recipe cards included. Refreshments during course charged for separately. £400 for up to 10 guests, with a charge of £40 for every additional guest.

Dinner Demonstration

Our Chef’s Table is a demonstration dining experience where Cookery School Chef Director will prepare a gourmet meal in front of you, entertaining you with professional skills and foodie anecdotes from a lifetime in Michelin-starred kitchens.
