Middleham Castle

Middleham Castle dates from 1170 and boasts one of the largest keeps in England with twelve foot thick walls and three floors. It was home to Richard III, and many years later passed into the Cunliffe-Lister family in 1889. It is now owned by English Heritage, who run events there during the summer months. Although a castle is now a ruin, is still a spectacular site to visit.
