Local Attractions

Yorkshire is the largest county in England offering visitors three beautiful National Parks including the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, a superb coastline and cultural cities such as York, Leeds and Bradford (UNESCO City of Film).

Yorkshire has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Fountains Abbey and Saltaire) and offers world class attractions including the National Media Museum, National Railway Museum and the Royal Armouries.

Yorkshire also has numerous magnificent stately homes and castles, as well as over 60 gardens open to visitors! These include Castle Howard, Burton Agnes, Harewood House and Ripley Castle.

The historic and fascinating city of York has over 30 attractions, from York Minster and the city walls to the National Railway Museum.

We have selected Yorkshire’s most popular attractions that are all in easy range of Swinton for a day visit (some of them only a few miles away), which include castles, abbeys, gardens, stately homes and those of particular appeal to families.

Please also bear in mind that there are also a number of events organised at Swinton Park during the year, and details about these can be found at our Events page.

The garden furniture is out and soon it will be time for afternoon teas on the lawn and evening drinks on the terrace at sunset. English summertime at it’s best.
