Gourmet Weekends 2015
Gourmet Weekends at Swinton Park are a celebration of fine wine and gourmet cuisine, giving our talented chefs the opportunity to flex their culinary muscles, showcasing both wonderful seasonal ingredients from the Swinton Estate and fantastic artisan produce from further afield.
Here are the programme details:
Arrive on Friday in time for afternoon tea, which is served from 12 noon* leaving plenty of time in the afternoon to explore the Parkland, book a spa treatment or enjoy some time relaxing in the exclusive spa area with cedar hot tub and sauna (advance reservations esssential).
The Gourmet Weekend programme begins at 5.00pm with a wine tasting exploring a variety of grapes, blends and styles of wine.
Dinner on Friday evening is served in Samuel’s restaurant at the time of your choosing, so please make a reservation in advance. Enjoy a pre-dinner glass of sparkling wine while you select your choices from the Classic menu with wines from our House Selection.
(*Please note that rooms are not available until 3pm. However, we are happy to store your luggage until you room is available)
Breakfast is served in Samuel’s restaurant from 7.30am, or in your room, as you prefer. Two demonstrations will then take place in the cookery school, with morning coffee served in the break between demonstrations.
At noon, a second wine tasting will take place. This is followed by a Wine Appreciation Lunch, which is an optional addition to the Gourmet Weekend programme.
Alternatively you might prefer to have a light lunch from our Castle Club (bar) menu, or book a hotel activity such as a Hawk Walk at the Bird of Prey Centre. You might also enjoy our Gourmet Treasure Hunt, taking you around the shops in Masham.
A third demonstration will take place in the cookery school at 3pm, followed by a cream tea.
After tea you you can enjoy some free time relaxing, perhaps taking in a spa treatment or a walk before dinner. Pre-dinner drinks will be served at 6.30pm followed by dinner on the Signature Tasting Menu with matching wines. This will be served in the Private Dining Room, with our Gourmet Weekend guests seated together at a single table.
Breakfast is served from 7.30am to 10am, with checkout requested by 11am.
After breakfast, guests are welcome to take a drive around the Parkland with our Porter and see the fallow deer before departing (advance booking essential as places are limited in the Land Rover).

German Wine Surprises and the Delights of Portugal.
Prepare to lose your pre-conceptions as Claudia Pech, leading light of German wine production, introduces you to a new wave of exceptional German wines. Marta Mateus of Marta Vine and Danny Cameron, President of the Association of Portuguese Wine Importers also present some delightful, handcrafted wines from Portugal, while Stephen Bulmer’s cookery demonstration features port as an ingredient.
27th – 28th November 2015:
A Celebration of Yorkshire Produce
Proud of our home-grown produce and local food heritage, the weekend’s menus and demonstrations feature Swinton Estate-reared game and free-range pork, together with sausages and charcuterie products prepared by our own Master Butcher Jimmy Scott and Yorkshire’s wonderful local cheeses. Simon Crannage’s seasonal gourmet menus are complemented by local beer, cider and spirits as well as some of our favourite wines.
Price: From £362.50 per room, per night.
Rate based on two guests sharing a room. Minimum two night stay applies.
Work has commenced on our Country Club and Spa, which will include an indoor swimming pool with full spa and fitness facilities, as well as a 40-seat conservatory restaurant, coffee shop and Swinton Estate shop. Please see our press release for more information.
